Our Story
Smiley Movement is a nonprofit community interest
company sponsored by the original SmileyⓇ brand.
Our vision is to inspire positive change in society by
creating a happier, more equal and sustainable
world, where everyone works hand-in-hand to
address urgent societal and environmental
problems.
How did we get here? Well, in 2017, philanthropist
and social entrepreneur Nicolas Loufrani – Smiley’s
CEO – identified a gap in the market between the
people looking for opportunities to give back and
the millions of charitable causes in need of support.

How do we do it?
Smiley Movement provides a cross-media platform of news, videos, events and awards that
connect the non-profit sector to the broader public to enlighten minds and empower people to
take positive action.
Smiley News
Positive journalism is our catalyst for change. Echoing SmileyⓇ original’s 1972 good news message
of spreading peace, love and optimism, we publish a daily source of uplifting news that is both
positive and purposeful, and inspires and drives action.
We take a constructive journalism approach, highlighting solutions to the current world problems
and inspiring people to feel optimistic about the future. All our content aligns with the broader
aims of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and promotes calls to action for positive change.
From campaigning to end poverty and prioritising equality to reducing stigmas around mental
health and protecting the environment, our stories bring us one step closer to reaching our vision.

Smiley Talks
We run live events in the UK, featuring interviews and panel
discussions with charity speakers, campaigners and educators
tackling real issues and promoting proven strategies.
Smiley Movement puts on around eight Smiley Talks a year, with
past topics including: ending homelessness, the road to zero
emissions, and changing the world through empathy. The events
span panel discussions, question and answer sessions, as well as
networking opportunities. All of our events are free and streamed
live – meaning you can watch the recording at home, whenever
you want. Our in-person events are always held in wheelchair-
friendly venues to be accessible to everyone.
