What started as a simple trip to visit his brother’s newborn
in Jasper, morphed into Squamish local, Cameron Dare,
planning his first bikepacking trip, where he’ll travel over
800 km, completely unassisted, to raise money for the
Sea to Sky Hospice Society.
“Originally, I was just going to have a fairly chill bike ride
back. I was going to do it in like six or seven days,” he
said. Then he read an article about Meaghan Hackinen
setting the women’s record time on the Tour de Divide, the
roughly 4,400 kilometre bikepacking race from Banff to
New Mexico. “That inspired me because I read her article.
And she talked about how she got into bikepacking, that
sparked a bit of interest for me.”
