Is OPC 53 or PPC cement better for my 
roof?
● For your purpose. you’ll find there are essentially 2 types of 
cement - Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) & Portland 
Pozzolana Cement (PPC).
● OPC is the best of these when it comes to Roofing. 
● OPC 53 grade is the most preferred type for specific 
applications like pre-stressed concrete and high strength 
concrete. 
● Whereas, PPC is proven to be more suitable for normal 
house building, even in aggressive environments.

● PPC has a low setting time, compared to OPC but it hardens 
over a period of time, with proper curing. 
● Because of its higher heat hydration nature, it requires 
special care.
