What is Plastic Injection 
PMlastioc inljedctioinn mogld?ing is a process for production of plastic parts from  
thermoplastic and thermoset materials. The process involves melting of plastic  
material, injection, cooling & solidification. Plastic injection is a multi step 
process  consisting of –
1)Clamping - Prior to injection of material, comes the clamping process where  
Hydraulic clamping units pushes mold halves together to exert pressure on 
them  to ensure mold halves are tied closely during material injection process.
2)Injection - Raw plastic material is then injected into injection molding 
machine
& it is melted by pressure & heat. Molten plastic is then injected into mold
3)Cooling – The molten plastic inside the mold is allowed to cool down & 
solidify  to take the shape of mold. Further the mold can be opened for ejection 
process.
4)Ejection – When the mold is open, a mechanism is used to push part of 
mold  out of machine. This is the ejection process. After this process, some 
post  processing is required like trimming of excess material & other process, 
before  formation of final product.
