Airport facial recognition generally works through two types of matching. One-to-one verification confirms that a passenger is the person associated with a passport, visa, or travel record. This is commonly used at automated border gates. One-to-many identification compares a passenger against a larger database, such as a watchlist. This can support security operations but requires greater care because large-scale matching can produce false positives.
